New information has come to light concerning the shocking deaths of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday.

A Alarm

As detailed in an account citing a family associate, a massage therapist scheduled for an appointment first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the house. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.

When she went into the house, Romy came upon her father's body. Reports state she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Her roommate who had gone with her then dialed 911. Subsequently, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Charges

Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is now being held without bail.

Correcting the Record

The anonymous source also disputed several initial details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the property, she did not identify him as a suspect at that juncture.

Furthermore disputed circulated suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "apprehensive" about Nick's conduct in recent weeks. Rather the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This refutation applies to descriptions of reportedly "unstable" behavior by Nick at a party thrown by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the discovery. While the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they said that reports of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.

Investigation Details

Per law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some accounts suggested the state of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for some hours.

Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the scene. He was due to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not been medically cleared and would be unable to attend until no sooner than Wednesday.
