Iran Claims Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Widespread Counterattacks.

Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a large-scale and continuing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is not yet known and the US has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE said in a statement that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported debris fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
