Hulu is Developing a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The most recent action-packed game that gamers explored was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for delighting in action and mayhem with similar enthusiasm, all while presenting captivating, politically driven narratives. No wonder then that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program brought on board two creators whose work have embodied all of those elements.
About the Series
Based on Ubisoft's successful video game property, the short-run anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' format by having a fresh backdrop and ensemble in every instalment.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series via their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what part that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the creator.
“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And through it all, my FX team continues to lift me up with their steady trust and support.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology program. Every instalment is a variation of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To produce a epic action show that can evolve from year to year, while always examining the nature of humanity through this complex and turbulent lens, is a dream come true. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and present our mutual bold, visionary sensibility to the television.”
A time frame for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
