Nearly 55,000 households have currently been impacted by the storms, with their items and temporary homes ruined.

Heavy storms over the past week have compounded the already dire situation of the hundreds of thousands of uprooted residents in the territory, as stated by aid agencies.

"Terrible" Weather Brings Serious Threats

A spokesman characterized the weather overnight as "horrendous", with precipitation so severe that up to 15cm (6in) of water was seen on the ground.

"These conditions was truly horrendous for the residents. The storms were so strong... And the winds were so powerful," stated the official.

Officials express extreme worry that young ones living in makeshift shelters in damp garments will fall victim to hypothermia and other illnesses.

Casualties and Significant Damage

The health ministry have stated that one baby has died from hypothermia and no fewer than 11 other people have lost their lives in structural failures caused by the harsh conditions.

Additional accounts indicate a increased death toll. Officials reported that multiple structures had fully given way and scores had been partly destroyed.

  • Nearly 55,000 families impacted by the weather.
  • More than 40 official safe spaces severely flooded.
  • Countless residents forced to move once more.

Relief Distribution Seen as Insufficient

Groups have escalated deliveries of tarpaulins, blankets and clothes since the halt in hostilities started, but they stress there is still not enough aid getting in.

"Officials are operating tirelessly to provide that assistance and to allocate it, but the scale of the needs is so vast that we still have a great number of people and minors who are truly suffering each evening," warned one spokesperson.

Future Challenges and Agreement Terms

The next stage of the agreement encompasses arrangements for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the withdrawal of troops, and other terms.

Relief organizations have highlighted the necessity for "expanded and ongoing aid to address urgent and future requirements."

The war was sparked by an attack in October 2023. Following actions have led to a high number of casualties in the area, as per health ministry figures.
