Former Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have announced that a former physician now faces charges for performing sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were under his care.

The Grave Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.

One deputy chief CPS official said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

Breakdown of Charges

Prosecutors outline the forty-five sexual offences comprise:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.

Authorities have asked individuals with information to contact the relevant police force.
